Joya Johnson has been in the business of bringing together buyers and sellers in Maryland and Washington, DC. She started in the industry in 1999 as a real estate assistant. Joya's areas of expertise include working with first-time homebuyer programs in the DC and Maryland area. She also has firsthand experience in handling short sales, assisting investor clients in finding properties to renovate and sell, and working on extreme renovations to existing homes. Among her specialties, Joya is well versed in working with land and new construction and project management and is training to receive her District of Columbia Real Estate Broker license.
Joya is affiliated with Fairfax Realty Elite, a company that has served buyers and sellers throughout the DC Metropolitan Area since 1988. As one of the largest and fastest-growing companies in the area, Fairfax Realty is proud to have been recognized by Washington Business Journal and named in Realtor Magazine's Top 100 Companies. As a sales associate with Fairfax Realty Elite, Joya has earned the Certified Real Estate Negotiator (CREN), Certified Military Relocator (CMR), Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE) and Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI) designation. This is the highest professional award of the Maryland Association of Realtors and is awarded only after a real estate professional has met the highest standards for experience and completed a rigorous course of training. Licensed in Maryland and the District of Columbia, she is better able to serve all her clients in the metropolitan area. Joya is one of just a few real estate professionals who may use CREN, CDPE, GRI, CMR after her name. She also received her mortgage license for the State of Maryland.
Born and raised in Washington, DC, and Prince George's County, MD, Joya currently lives in Bowie, MD, with her family and her two most significant accomplishments: her son, Jahzeel, and daughter, Jayla. Joya founded Positive Minded Sisters (PMS), a women-owned Limited Liability Corporation with a mission of enhancing the lives of individuals and groups through job placement, empowerment, skills training, education, and counseling. Through the PMS Professional Development Mentor Program, she is able to help those individuals find permanent jobs and enhance their lives and accomplish their long-term career goals.
